University Adjunct Instructor: The Entrepreneurial Musician

POSITION SUMMARY: Bob Jones University Division of Music seeks an instructor with a Christian worldview for an adjunct position.  The successful candidate will be a ministry-minded leader and pedagogue who will show a commitment to the mission of BJU and the Division of Music and will contribute proactively to the spiritual, intellectual and artistic life of this Christian liberal arts university.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instructor of record for The Entrepreneurial Musician, a seminar for undergraduate music majors

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Advanced degree in music education, music business, or performance
  • Successful record of teaching/performing experience at the collegiate level or at levels appropriate to departmental needs
  • Proven record of successful innovation and entrepreneurship in music business and/or arts administration

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Display the ability to communicate at a high level musically, verbally & in written communication
  • Display the ability to develop students’ mindset and skills for music-related entrepreneurial ventures
  • Display the ability to apply core principles of entrepreneurship including creativity and innovation, opportunity recognition, market research, branding and promotion for the 21st century economy
  • Express a mature philosophy of music and music making from a Christian worldview

Required Education: Master's degree
Required Experience: Five or more years related experience
