IT Technology Support Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Technology Support Specialist will provide Tier 1 technology support for BJU Press employees’ computers, applications, printers, and phones. This position will escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 support at the Service Desk.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide Tier 1 support for BJU Press employees
  • Respond quickly and completely to employees’ requests
  • Provide solutions to BJU Press employee issues with hardware, network, applications, prints, and phones
  • Research hardware issues and offer solutions based on research
  • Maintain documentation about problems and solutions
  • Ensure processes and procedures are consistently followed
  • Maintain consistent communication with employees regarding their requests
  • Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 support at the Service Desk
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Exhibited knowledge of Windows and Apple operation systems
  • Knowledge of computer system
  • Basic knowledge of hubs, switches, and network configuration
  • Basic knowledge of printers and scanners
  • Basic knowledge of VolP and digital telephones
  • Technical computer support experience
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities
  • Problem solving ability
  • Working knowledge of standard and non-standard applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technology

Required Education: Associates degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
