BJA Summer Day Camp Assistant Director

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activity Leaders

  • Instruct and supervise all leader activities
  • Answer any questions (keeps Director informed)

Junior High Program (starting training week and continuing throughout the summer)

  • Supervise this program throughout the summer
  • Oversee their choice of summer missionary
  • Oversee their choice of summer theme
  • Oversee their fundraisers
  • Oversee their activities (special trips, nursing home, etc.)

Elementary Camp Program

  • Serve as primary supervisor this program throughout the summer
  • Coordinate staff choice of summer theme(s) with middle school camp
  • Oversee their special days, special trips, etc.

Special Activities (starting training week and continuing throughout the summer)

  • Oversee planning of combined Big Activity for Friday mornings
  • Help Activity Leaders coordinate field trips
  • Helps plan special days

Discipline

  • Deal with campers (after they have been dealt with by the activity leaders)
  • Keep Director informed (director will contact parents and/or suspend)

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Assume director responsibilities when he is on vacation

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good rapport with and understanding of college-age personnel
  • Good rapport with and understanding of pre-high school campers
  • Aptitude for management
  • Counseling ability
  • Average computer skills
  • Faculty/staff or GA standing
