Chief Accounting Officer

The Chief Accounting Officer manages processes and procedures related to financial transactions, including internal accounting controls, financial technology systems, financial planning and analysis, general and cost accounting, treasury management, financial reporting, audits, tax, purchasing, and risk management.


  • Establishes, evaluates, and maintains appropriate internal accounting controls and processes
  • Coordinates with BJU’s Information Systems personnel to develop and maintain financial systems
  • Manages preparation of operating and capital budgets
  • Manages the processing of transactions into general and subsidiary ledgers
  • Manages cost center and line-of-business allocations
  • Directs all treasury functions including banking systems, cash management programs, cash receipts and disbursements accounting, wire transfers, credit-card processing, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Manages internal financial reporting related to management needs.
  • Manages external audits, tax functions, and purchasing functions
  • Manages risk to minimize or eliminate the effects of all types of risks on BJU’s assets
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU


  • High competency in technical and professional accounting skills
  • Initiative and self-direction to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Required Education: Master’s degree in business-related field preferred
Required Experience: Supervisory experience in a professional accounting environment preferred
