POSITION SUMMARY: As Secondary Writer, you will work on a team (Mathematics) to write and revise secondary level textbooks and teacher support materials in a particular subject area according to Statement of Work specifications and in accordance with the BJU Press mandates for integrating Biblical worldview and comprehension-based learning. You will work with Operations and other departments to establish and meet deadlines.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts research relating to content, national standards, tests, and other published materials
- Participates in planning scope and internal dates
- Consults with Biblical Worldview and Academic Rigor teams regularly
- Coordinates/assists/consults various projects with BJU, BJA, and BJU Press Digital
- Provides customer support via phone, email, and presentations
- Promotes BJU Press materials as needed for school administrators attending the VIP (Vision, Inspiration, Purpose) program, onsite conferences, video conferences, etc. (Not a condition of employment)
- Critiques and revises rough drafts
- Provides subject matter expertise
- Cooperates and collaborates with a team via regular meetings, assessments, and assignments
- Maintains work flow throughout production in accordance with deadlines
- Prepares materials according to specifications for release to other departments
- Conducts final checks of permissions, music recordings, photo and art requests
- Meets weekly with the BJU Press Writers Senior Manager to plan projects and receive direction
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Competence with software used in the authoring process
- Pedagogical competence
- Teamwork abilities
- Interest and ability to write educational materials
- Teaching experience and education degree- a plus
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
