Business Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:  Works with all BJU Press departments and acts as a liaison between business users, vendors, and IT developers. Translates high level business needs into actionable requirements and work statements. Serves as a subject matter expert for the BJU Press operational supply chain. Facilitates communication between BJU Press departments and Information Technologies. Serves as a project manager for technical projects that impact BJU Press systems.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a business analyst for BJU Press primarily on eCommerce and ERP systems.
  • Understand the entire order, supply and fulfillment chains involved in the delivery of BJU Press products and services.
  • Serve as a project manager for assigned BJU Press projects.
  • Elicit and document requirements based on stakeholders' needs.
  • Create reports, diagrams, and flow charts to visualize data and requirements.
  • Analyze projects/requirements to determine which stakeholders and systems are affected.
  • Recommend improvements to BJU Press internal eCommerce and ERP processes and software.
  • Work with internal users, developers, and external vendors of the BJU Press eCommerce and ERP platforms to implement new processes and software to improve business efficiency.
  • Communicate eCommerce and ERP changes effectively across BJU Press departments.
  • Act as a system administrator and trainer for Atlassian JIRA ticketing software.
  • Manage JIRA backlog to ensure proper prioritization of issues to meet the strategic and budgetary needs of BJU Press.
  • Work with BJU Press and BJU, Inc. IT stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and schedule eCommerce and ERP software releases.
  • Coordinate user testing of software releases.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by department head.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Experience in business analysis, IT-related field preferred
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical users.
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle/Agile methodology
  • Familiarity with  eCommerce/online ordering
  • Strong communication skills preferred, both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of BJU Press and its products/services
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Writing/editing skills
  • Critical thinking/big-picture thinker

 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
