IT Service Desk Technician

Position Summary: The Service Desk Technician will provide technology support for BJU, Inc. employees’ computers, applications, printers, and phones. Service Desk Technicians assure users’ needs are addressed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee service desk team queue
  • Provide solutions to user issues with computer hardware, network, printers and software
  • Research computer issues and offer resolutions based on research
  • Maintain documentation about issues and solutions
  • Ensure Service Desk processes are consistently followed
  • Respond quickly and competently to user requests
  • Provide consistent communication to users regarding their requests
  • Assist with bi-annual technician training
  • Assist with set up of annual/special events and department moves
  • Serve as back up for fellow service desk teams
  • Participate in project teams, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to take initiative in solving problems
  • Knowledge of operating system platforms such as Windows and Apple
  • Some experience in technical computer support
  • Ability to interface with users and discuss issues in language users will understand
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software components
  • Working knowledge of basic office and non-standard applications
  • Troubleshooting capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Desire to teach other about technology

Required Education: High School graduate or GED
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
