Customer Account Services Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:  Communicates with customers regarding billings, payments, credit, and sales tax exemptions.


  • Contacting customers who have past due amounts, by telephone, email, mail, or fax
  • Drafting and sending collection letters
  • Negotiating payment arrangements with customers based on their financial situation
  • Answering inbound toll-free phone calls
  • Answering questions and resolving problems regarding credit card payment plans
  • Researching as needed and responding to customer inquiries regarding terms of sale, invoices, credit memos, payments, account statements, and sales tax exemptions
  • Verifying new customers to determine customer type
  • Processing credit applications and setting credit limits for new customers
  • Reviewing credit limits annually
  • Responding to requests for credit references from other companies
  • Performing customer account maintenance
  • Cross-training to enable assisting in other BJU Press Business Office functions
  • Communicating effectively at all levels and with customers and sales team
  • Performing various accounting functions of the BJU Press Business Office
  • Assisting in improving productivity
  • Reconciling accounts in preparation for annual audit


  • Knowledge of general office accounting practices
  • Ability to act with propriety and maintain confidentiality of customer and business information
  • Good telephone manners
  • Good verbal and writing skills
  • Flexibility to switch tasks when needed
  • Ability to build relationships with other BJU Press departments
  • Ability to work independently when needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to adapt to changes
  • Organizational skills and accuracy with numbers and details
  • Degree may be substituted with experience in working environment with multiple functions in business office

Required Education: Bachelor's degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
