BJA Elementary Building Support/Latestay Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:  Position referred to as "Mr. Fix-It." Person serves faculty and school in a variety of ways meeting classroom, program, storage, building, and grounds needs. In addition, as latestay supervisor, this person would oversee the BJA latestay program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

During the School Year

  • Assisting with stage work for chapel and other performances
  • Helping to maintain the appearance and function of the ES courtyard and playgrounds
  • Assisting classroom teachers with furniture adjustments, technology malfunctions, relocations and minor repairs
  • Helping to maintain the appearance and function of both ES buildings with minor maintenance and custodial work
  • Moving items to and from ES storage areas as needed throughout the year
  • Assisting the instrumental program by walking students between buildings at lunchtime
  • Assisting with school events, such as special community days, field day, etc.
  • Direct the BJA latestay program including the hiring, training, and supervision of latestay workers and coordinating the latestay program
  • Provide loving, safe, Christ-honoring environment for the students under his/her care

During the Summer

  • Performing building maintenance as needed to prepare for the upcoming school year (painting, replacing/fixing fixtures, repairing desks, cleaning carpets, etc.)
  • Updating inventory of all storage areas
  • Maintaining the courtyard, including water features, grass area, etc.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Works well with children and adults
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills with students, parents, and workers
  • Demonstrates organizational abilities in the management of workers and children
  • Possesses working knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical, and maintenance skills
  • Ability to frequently climb, crawl, reach out and above shoulders, squat and kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and push or pull up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to constantly bend, stand, and walk

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: No prior experience necessary
