Assistant Director of Financial Aid

POSITION SUMMARY:  As Assistant Director of Financial Aid, you will contribute by working alongside the Director to manage the department, process the work, and plan for improvements in the Financial Aid Department.


  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid in the day to day operations of the Financial Aid Office
  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid in packaging and disbursing federal, state, and institutional aid
  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid of reviewing compliance issues and updating policies and procedures to reflect current Federal regulations
  • Assist in the reconciliation of Pell and Direct Loan Funds
  • Learn the basic functions of each financial aid process with the goal of assisting financial aid counselors with questions
  • Review and organize a strategy to help students find additional external aid opportunities to finish college.
  • Serve on the SAP Appeals Committee and the Special Circumstance Review Committee
  • Monitor the federal default rate and report to the Administration status and concerns and provide students with loan repayment information 


  • A firm working knowledge of the Financial Aid field is imperative for success in this position

  • Knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations and FERPA

  • Proven ability to use multiple software systems as well as to learn new systems as required

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
